2008 was a stunning year for liberty. No, we didn't take over Congress and the White House, but the pro-liberty forces did see a record-breaking explosion of interest and activity. We learned how to use the Internet to stay organized, and we invented the concept of a money bomb. If it were possible to build a time machine, if we could take all the knowledge we have today back four years and do it over again, I believe Ron Paul could have won the presidency.
2010 will be a another key year, as we apply this knowledge forward to a new election cycle. Two races in particular are drawing my interest.
First, Peter Schiff is considering a run for Senate from Connecticut. Peter is a a nationally known and respected financial adviser, and indeed was an economic adviser to the Ron Paul presidential campaign. Peter says he will run only if he gets significant financial support, so his fans are organizing a $1 million money bomb on August 7. The goal is to have 10,000 people donate an average of $100. So far almost 7,000 people have pledged, so the goal is certainly within reach.
Please pledge at http://www.schiffathon.com/ today, and donate at http://www.schiffforsenate.com/ on August 7!
The other race I'm watching is Rand Paul's Senate race in Kentucky. His followers are organizing a major money bomb on August 20. Maybe we can give him $1 million, too.
Personally, I feel lucky to have Ron Paul as my Representative in Congress. No, I don't mean to imply that I live in the 14th Congressional District of Texas, rather that Ron Paul is the one man in Congress who represents my values. So, while I can't vote for him at the ballot box, I do contribute to his campaigns. This year I have also contributed to Peter Schiff and Rand Paul. Will you join me?
